overview:

We are excited to launch our Family Learning & Leadership (L&L) Circle! We are partnering with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education (COE), United Way of Santa Cruz County (UWSCC), PVUSD, LOSD, SLVUSD, SUESD, SCCS and Encompass Community Services to to grow our network of current and future community organizers ready to change their neighborhoods and the world for the better. This Circle will be a “community of practice” bringing together parents, caregivers, and advocates who ready and willing to do the work needed to make life better for their children and communities.

The C2C L&L Circle will engage families as advocates to uplift community priorities that foster equitable and nurturing environments for our children. Participants will engage in a series of 6 bilingual (Spanish/English) workshops focused on community resilience, hopes & dreams, advocacy, policy priorities and action planning. The L&L Circle offers the opportunity to be part of a diverse, supportive, and trusting social network with access to power and decision-making, practice public speaking and advocacy skills, learn how to influence policies and systems that matter to our families, and strengthen community empowerment and collective actions, by building skills and uniting around these shared goals:

  • Local families most impacted by long-standing systemic inequities have a voice and share power

  • Public policies and support systems truly support the wellbeing of families of color

  • Childcare, schools, healthcare & immigration systems enable all children and families to thrive and reach their full potential
