What is the Parent Leadership Committee?
The Parent Leadership Committee (PLC) is at the heart of C2C’s work and informs where our organization invests time and energy. These meetings are run by parents for parents, and is a space for everyone to share ideas, connect and co-create solutions to ensure all Santa Cruz County children can thrive.
Who is involved in PLC meetings?
All parents with children in the districts that we serve (LOSD, SCCS, SUESD, SLVUSD) are invited to join our PLC meetings! Community Organizers and Parent Leaders lead these meetings and help create agendas that are relevant and inclusive. Our C2C Family Engagement Coordinators co-facilitate these meetings and help create a line of communication between parents, the school administration, community organizations and policymakers. Meetings are primarily conducted in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation.
Each school site elects 2 parents to serve as their volunteer Parent Coordinators and who also attend the monthly Steering Committee meeting with our school and agency partners. This helps ensure that parents have a direct channel to make their voices heard and influence decisions that affect their families.

Parents took the time to reflect on what their values are and what they want the PLC to embody: Love, Justice, Compassion, Honesty, Communication, Friendship, Mutual Respect, Wellness, Health, Solidarity, Positive Attitude, Share, Gratitude, Unity, Support and Equality.
These values are reflected in how we treat one another and the environment we want to create for our children.

How can I join?
The first step to becoming more involved in our Parent Leadership Committee is to attend our meetings and meet fellow parents! We host bilingual PLC meetings in-person and on Zoom. Check out our calendar to see all future meeting dates or contact the community organizer for your school site.
